Wood Firing Kiln

The stone house and outbuildings, grouped around a 'Bawn', were standing on this site 200 years ago.

The derelict buildings were renovated in 1993, using local craftsmen, inspired by the vernacular architecture of South Wexford.

In 1997 the Potters Yard was established by Patricia Howard, an accomplished potter of many years experience, to produce Slipware and to teach her craft to others.

The Potter's Yard hosts a range of creative enterprises. In previous years we have bred the rare Kerry cow; upgraded our outbuildings into a professional bakery; and now have a publishing business and darkroom. We have hosted a number of multi-craft workshops, and we possess one of the largest wood-firing kilns in the region.

The Wood firing kiln was built in 1999 as part of a local project for the Millenium. Built entirely by the family, it was based on a design from traditional kiln builders.

We all welcome you and we hope you will enjoy creating and relaxing at our atmospheric home.

Established with a grant from Wexford Enterprise Board.
